Invisalign clear aligners are a modern alternative to traditional metal braces. With their invisible design, you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. Additionally, invisible braces work faster than conventional braces.
Patients prefer invisible aligners over traditional braces because they are undetectable at a conversational distance. Since they’re removable, you can take them out to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. Another benefit is their smooth, metal-free design, which means invisible braces won’t pinch or pull at your cheeks and gums. Most importantly, they work twice as fast or faster than traditional braces.
SureSmile vs. Invisalign
Invisalign is the most well-known clear braces system, but there are others that work equally well. SureSmile and Invisalign are very similar. Dr. Dang prefers SureSmile because it is more efficient than Invisalign, requiring fewer adjustments. It’s also less expensive. Both Invisalign and SureSmile use custom-made clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth until they are straight and your smile is more beautiful. However, Invisalign treatment takes between 12 and 18 months, while SureSmile works within 6 to 18 months. The more corrections your teeth require, the longer the process will take. Both systems work well for fixing common orthodontic problems, like gaps in the teeth, overbites, and crookedness.
The SureSmile Process
There are multiple steps to giving you a straighter smile:
- Imaging. We will take x-rays and digital impressions of your mouth and teeth.
- Smile design. Dr. Dang will use the SureSmile computer program to create your aligners.
- Getting your aligners. You’ll try on your first set of aligners. When you put in a new pair of clear braces, it will feel like they don’t quite fit. That’s normal. Over the next two weeks, your teeth will straighten. Then, it will be time for the next clear aligner.
- Follow-up appointments. Depending on the complexity of your case, you may need a few or several follow-up appointments. You’ll have a straighter, more attractive smile when the process is complete.
Tips for Successful SureSmile Treatment
It’s important to keep your teeth clean to avoid cavities, especially when you’re wearing clear aligners. Good daily dental hygiene and regular cleanings will protect your teeth while you’re straightening them. To get the best results, wear your clear aligners at least 20 to 22 hours each day and come in for scheduled follow-up appointments so Dr. Dang can monitor your progress.
